This information was given to all 10 franchisees in a special meeting of captains and managers held on Thursday in BCCI Head Quarter. Under this, if found guilty of slow over rate, the captains will not have a match ban, but will be given demerit marks on the lines of ICC. These numbers will be valid for three years. A ban will be imposed only in special cases.
Only special case will be banned
According to the report of the cricbing, the captains will be punished with demerit points, but the match ban will not be imposed for slow over-rate. On Level 1 crime, demerit marks will be deducted with 25 to 75 percent match fees, while four demerit marks will be found on the serious crime of Level 2. The match referee can impose a fine of 100 percent or additional demerit marks for every 4 demerit points, which can ban the match in the future.

In the IPL, some captains have been matched with matches due to slow over-per. In the previous season, Rishabh Pant had to leave an important match due to slow over-rate, while Hardik Pandya would not be able to play in the opening match of IPL 2025 due to over-perpetal crime in the last season.

It is learned that strict steps will be taken in this regard after the 2027 edition, which means that this rule will remain in force till then. Under this rule, teams can change a player by at least 2027 during the match.
