The 58th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) was to be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Saturday at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium Bangalore, but a single ball was canceled without throwing a single ball due to continuous rains in the host city. Due to which both teams got one point each because the match did not get any result.
After this result, RCB reached the top position in the points table with 17 points and the possibilities of qualifying in the playoffs were strengthened. At the same time, on the other hand, KKR’s journey with this washout ended. With 12 points, they are now officially out of the playoff race.

KKR became the fourth team to be out of IPL 2025. Earlier, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have already been out of the tournament. KKR has now become a fourth team in this list.
But is RCB replaced?
Although RCB has reached 17 points, but their place in the top-4 is still not confirmed. The results of the upcoming matches will decide the entry into their playoffs. RCB will now be eyeing the double header (two matches) played on May 18, where Rajasthan Royals (RR) will face Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) will face Gujarat Titans (GT). If any team in PBKS or DC loses their match, then the RCB will qualify for the playoffs.
