‘Shane Warne had a lot of confidence in me. He called me the diamond of India. He called me ‘Torneado’. But I did not get any support in India. The cricket I played was just 10%. I say with confidence that I am Sachin Paji, Ganguly Dada, Dadh

These words are of Kamran Khan, cricketer from Mau district. Kamran played the Indian Premier League (IPL) from 2009 to 2012. But after that he became anonymous. 34 -year -old Kamran Khan now plays the village tournament.
Kamran Khan’s cricket career was full of ups and downs. Now even a return cannot be made, so they are preparing to contest the assembly elections in 2027. Dainik Bhaskar The team reached Kamran’s house in Mau district. Talked to him about cricket career. How to drown his career, what will we do now? Read the report…
Started playing with senior at the age of 10 Kamran Khan’s house is in Nadwa Sarai village of Mau district, about 300 km from the capital Lucknow. About 500 meters before the village, the boys were seen playing cricket in the afternoon filled with leather ball. The batting and bowling of the boys looked like a professional cricketers.
We reached Kamran’s house directly from here. Kamran is the youngest of 7 brothers and 2 sisters. Kamran’s one room had his won trophies and photos with big cricketers. We started talking to him in this room.
This is the same ground in Nadwa Sarai village of Mau, where Kamran Khan used to play cricket.
Our first question was, from which age did playing cricket start? Kamran says, I would have been 6-7 years old, since then I started playing cricket. At the age of 10, he started playing cricket with senior from tennis ball. At that time my mother used to inspire cricket.
My bowling was such that if there was a match in a village in the neighborhood, people used to call me to play. At that time I used to play as left hand batsman and fast bowler. My batting was much better at that time.
Kamran Khan showed us toffee and medals won in cricket.
Passed every trial, but there was no selection Kamran says, I used to play with tennis balls in the village, but it was a dream in my mind that Ranji has to play and then play for the country. For this, we camped for under-14 to under-19 and then Ranji.
Every trial passed, but never selected. Earlier it was said that your trial has been done. Now you go home, the call letter will go there. So many years have passed, not a single call letter has come till date.
Kamran Khan still sweats in the net. He wants to play legend cricket.
Rajasthan Royals added to 20 lakhs We asked, how did you reach Mumbai, how was the selection in Rajasthan Royals? Kamran says, when I did not get a chance here, I contacted Naushad Khan Sir, father of cricketer Sarfaraz Khan in Mumbai. They called me to Mumbai. Naushad Sir and Mumbai Police players were happy to see my bowling.
For the first time I got a chance to play in DY Patil tournament in 2009. In this, only players who have played for Ranji, State and India get a chance. The Mumbai Police has a special quota, so I was sent on their behalf.
Kamran Khan is also focusing on his fitness.
The first match was played by Kamran against Kerala. The coaches and officers of IPL teams also came to watch the match. Kamran bowled 4 overs. Gained 4 big wickets for 13 runs. This performance of Kamran caught everyone’s attention. At that time, Darren Berry, who was the coaching director of Rajasthan Royals, connected Kamran to his team. He was signed at Rs 20 lakh for a season.
Shenwarn called Kamran a diamond of India It is about 2009. The IPL match was played in South Africa, as the Lok Sabha elections were to be held in the country in the month of March itself. On the other hand, the Sri Lanka team was attacked in Pakistan on March 3. In view of the danger, the BCCI decided that the entire season should be played in South Africa. The tournament started from 18 April 2009. The first match was from Rajasthan Royals Royal Challengers Bangalore. Kamran got a chance in the playing XI in the inaugural match.
Kamran’s performance was fine, but he did not get a wicket. On April 23, Rajasthan Royals competed with Kolkata Knight Riders. In this match, Kamran dismissed Saurabh Ganguly and Chris Gayle. 7 runs were needed in the last match, Saurabh Ganguly was batting. Kamran dismissed him and saved the match.
Here the match ended at the tie, then the super over was for the result. Captain Shane Warne stopped the ball, expressing confidence in Kamran. A total of 15 runs were scored in this over. Later Rajasthan Royals won 16 runs. In this entire season, Kamran played 4 matches and got 5 wickets. Shane Warne appreciated fiercely. Said Diamond and Torneado of India.
Kamran bowled at a speed of 140 in this tournament. Questions raised about his bowling action. We also asked Kamran about it. He says, when the question arose, I went to Australia and got a clean chit from there. After this, the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru also gave a clean chit. Only after this we played IPL in 2010 and 2011 and bowled. Allegations were also leveled against many more players, the process that they adopted, we also adopted the same process.
Leaving Rajasthan the worst decision of life After playing 8 matches for Rajasthan in 2009 and 2010, Kamran Khan left the franchise. We asked the reason for this. Kamran says, I wanted to play more and more matches. So I was looking for a team that would give a chance. With these conditions, we joined Pune Warriors.
Saurabh Ganguly was the captain of that team. Before every match, it was said that there will be a chance, but there is no chance. Only one chance was found against Bengaluru throughout the season. This match played on 29 April 2011 was my last match.
Kamran Khan is sorry that if he had got the support of a big player, his career would have shone.
We asked- what have you taken the most wrong decision? Kamran says, “The decision to leave Rajasthan Royals was my most wrong decision.” We asked about Shane Warne. Kamran says, he used to support me openly.
He used to say that India could not handle its diamond player. He used to tweet for me every month. I feel that if I lived in a country other than India, I would have become a bigger player, because there would be support there. But I did not get support here.
Sachin-Sahwag, Dhoni would have become a big player if supported Kamran says, what he performed is 10% of his ability. Had it been a chance, he would have shown as the fastest bowler in the country, because Physio and doctors would have been found. We asked- what kind of support did you want?
Kamran says, I played cricket in the village, then reached International directly. At that time, if Sachin Tendulkar Paji had supported a little, would anyone stop? I can guarantee that I would be the fastest bowler. Apart from Sachin, Saurabh Ganguly, Sehwag, Dhoni had a little support, I would have done very well.
We asked- Is there any hope of playing IPL and the country now? Kamran says, now it is not expected, although now I want to play legend cricket, nowadays such cricket is happening in many places. So I am also paying a lot of attention to my fitness. I practice daily at the age of 34 years. Earlier practiced in Sahara ground, just left Sahara’s job recently.
I want to be an independent leader We asked Kamran- what do you want to do next? He says I will go into politics further, but not from any party. I will contest elections only. There is a identity in our Ghosi region, people of every caste and fortnight know that I can go to the election only in 2027. I will always be connected with the rest of cricket. Here I will make an academy in my village and give training to children, because there is a lot of future in cricket here.
Finally put an eye on Kamran’s track record
On June 13, 2024, Kamran Khan announced his retirement from the IPL.
