Iran in Syria-Israel War: Brigadier General Bahrol Esbati, a top officer of the Iranian army, has admitted for the first time that the Iranian regime has been badly defeated in Syria. Apart from this, he also told about the fall of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad from power at the hands of Islamic rebel group HTS and the failures of Russia. In a speech given at a mosque in the Iranian capital, Tehran, Brigadier General Bahrol Esbati acknowledged that Iran is in no position to face a new conflict with Israel at this time. However, he tried to assure the people that all is not yet over in Syria.
Esbati was deployed in Syria during the war
According to The Times report, Brigadier General Bahrol Esbati was posted as the top Iranian commander in Syria and monitored all Iranian military activities there. According to the report, Esbati had worked with Syrian ministers and defense officials as well as Russian generals. Such statements highlighting its failures are rare in a country ruled by the strict rule of Iran’s supreme leader Khamenei. President Massoud Pezeshkian and other Iranian leaders also talked about Syria, but Esbati spoke openly about it.
No capacity to fight Israel any more
Brigadier General Esbati gave a speech at the Baliasar Mosque in Tehran on December 31, 2024. He said, “I do not consider losing Syria a matter of pride. We lost and lost very badly. “We suffered a huge blow and it has been very difficult.”
Responding to questions from attendees after the speech, Esbati said, “Iran responded to Israel’s actions in Lebanon and elsewhere twice, but now cannot handle a third round of attacks.”
On the question of attacking American military bases, he said that normal Iranian missiles cannot penetrate the advanced American air defense deployed around these bases.
Russia misled Iran
“Russia simply misled Iran into saying that Russian warplanes were bombing the rebels, when in reality they were bombing open fields,” Esbati said. Esbati has accused Russia of indirectly helping Israel.
