Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi has described the silence of the Government of India as ‘deviation from moral and diplomatic values’ over the ongoing struggle in the Middle East. He has written an article in the newspaper The Hindu, which is titled- “It is still not too late to hear India’s voice.”
Sonia Gandhi alleged that the government led by Prime Minister Modi has not only lost its voice by retreating from the Palestine policy based on the permanent and principles of India, but has also abandoned the values.
Thinking of India’s silence
He wrote: “New Delhi’s silence on the destruction in Gaza and now Iran without provocation is worrying. It is not just silence, but a sacrifice of our moral traditions.” Sonia Gandhi insisted, “It is still not too late. India should speak two bluntly, work responsibly and use every diplomatic channel available to reduce stress and promote the return of negotiations in West Asia.”

Sonia Gandhi said that the illegal and unconstitutional attack on Iran by Israel on 13 June 2025 once again showed how dangerous unilateral military action could be. The Congress party has strongly condemned these bombing and targeted murders.
He also said that Iran has been an old and reliable friend of India. The Congress leader reminded that in 1994, Iran had helped to stop the anti -India proposal on Kashmir in the United Nations Human Rights Commission. He said that Iran has been an old friend of India and has a deep civilization relationship between the two countries.
Netanyahu targeted
Sonia Gandhi also targeted the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and described him as ‘a leadership to weaken peace and promote extremism’. He also criticized the statement of former US President Donald Trump in which he dismissed the report of his own intelligence agencies and described Iran as close to nuclear weapons.

In the end, Sonia Gandhi appealed that “It is still not late, India will have to be vocal, behave responsibly and will have to promote the restoration of dialogue in West Asia using every diplomatic medium.”
