After a fierce struggle with Israel, Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei appeared publicly on Saturday. He participated in the ceremony of Ashura, the most important day of the Shia Muslim calendar held in Tehran.
According to the news agency, Iranian government television broadcast a video, showing Khamenei entering a large hall wearing traditional black clothes, where a huge crowd gathered on the occasion of Ashura. These halls are often used for important government and religious events. The people present at the ceremony were seen shouting slogans and expressing enthusiasm on the entry of Khamenei. This was his first public presence that has been seen since the war with Israel on 13 June.
Distance from public events due to protocol
Iranian officials later clarified that Khamenei was kept away from public events under the safety protocol amid growing regional tensions. All speeches, including his annual religious address, were broadcast through pre-varied videos. This absence gave rise to many speculation about his health and hideout.
During the 12 -day air war with Israel, in which Israel targeted Iran’s nuclear sites, defense systems and top military officers, Khamenei did not record any public presence. During this time he was hidden in a safe place and the messages recorded on his behalf were broadcast. On June 13, at the beginning of the war, Israel launched a massive attack on Iran’s military and nuclear infrastructure, including killing top commanders and scientists. It created serious concerns about Khamenei’s safety.
Let us know that the 12 -day war between Israel and Iran started on June 13, when Israel attacked Iran’s atomic sites and military bases under the operation ‘Rising Lion’. Many of Iran’s top military commanders and nuclear scientists were killed in these attacks. In response, Iran fired several ballistic missiles on major cities of Israel, including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, most of which were destroyed by Israel, but 28 people died and heavy losses in many areas in these attacks.
