Israel-Hamas Ceasefire: Israel on Monday (27 January) allowed Palestinians to return to the northern part of the Gaza Strip under the Gaza ceasefire for the first time after the 15-month Israel-Hamas war. Thousands of Palestinians, who had been waiting to cross the border for several days, headed towards the northern part of Gaza on Monday (January 27). Thousands of people were seen crossing the Netzarim corridor after 7 am.
However, the corridor’s opening was delayed by two days due to a dispute between Israel and Hamas, the Associated Press (AP) reported. Regarding this, Israel said that the fundamentalist group changed the order of release of those prisoners whom it had released in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. But the mediators resolved the dispute between Israel and Hamas overnight.
The objective of the ceasefire was to ensure the release of hostages.
The objective behind this ceasefire was to end the most fierce and destructive war ever between Israel and Hamas and to ensure the release of dozens of hostages captured during the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, which started the war. .
Israel had ordered to evacuate the northern part of Gaza
Israel ordered a widespread evacuation of northern Gaza in the early days of the war with Hamas and completely locked down the area as Israeli forces attacked. During this period, in October 2023 itself, about one million people migrated from North to South and were not even allowed to return. Apart from this, millions of people remained in the northern part of Gaza, where the most severe attacks and most destruction took place during the war.
Israel suspends ceasefire over a female hostage
Israel had suspended the border crossing process instead of opening it this weekend in response to the release of Arabel Yehud, a female civilian hostage. Israel also alleged that Hamas had failed to provide information about those released in the first phase, whether dead or alive.
