The Israel-Iran war started on 13 June 2025. It was an unprecedented military conflict in the Middle East. In this war, Israel started attacks on Iran’s atomic and military bases under Operation Rising Lion, in response to which Iran fired missiles and drones at Israeli cities and military bases.

Start of war
Israel and Iran have been stressed for decades. Iran challenged the legitimacy of Israel and spoke of destroying it, while Israel considered Iran’s nuclear program a threat to existence for itself. On 12 June 2025, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) blamed Iran for not following nuclear obligations, the next day Israel started Operation Rising Lion.
The Israeli Air Force dropped more than 330 weapons with over 200 fighter aircraft, with Iran’s Natanj, Fordo and Isfahan nuclear plant, military bases and missile production facilities. In response, Iran fired over 450 missiles and 1000 drones on Israel, affecting cities such as Tel Aviv, Haifa and Bir Sheva. On 22 June, the US attacked Fordo, Natanj and Isfahan using the B-2 stealth bomber.

Total death: According to various reports, 657 to 800 people were killed in Iran. A Washington -based Iranian human rights group reported that 263 civilians were killed, including 54 women and children. CNN quoted the Iranian Health Ministry as saying that 224 people were killed, of which more than 90% were citizens.
Injured: 1800 to 3056 people were injured, most of whom were citizens.

Explosion in Tehran: On 26 April, 57 people were killed and more than 1000 injured in the explosion due to sodium perklorate at Shahid Rajai Port, but it was an incident before the war.
