The growing tension between Israel and Iran, especially on 13 June 2025, has brought Israel’s “Operation Rising Lion” to bring out the advanced military capabilities of Israel. Israel’s attacks targeted Iran’s nuclear bases, military bases and leadership, killing more than 400 people.
Iran’s counter missiles and drone attacks were weak, which led to the weaknesses of its defense system. Israel’s five most powerful weapons, their characteristics and weaknesses in the defense of Iran, cause effective attacks on Tehran and other Iranian cities.

Five invincible weapons of Israel
Israel’s military arsenal, which is equipped with advanced technology and American support. Which includes weapons that penetrate accurate, secret and strong goals. These are five major weapons …
F-35i ‘Adir’ Stealth Fighter Jet
The F-35i is a version of the US F-35 Lightning II. It is the stealth multirol fighter, with advanced electronic warfare (EW) system, sensor fusion and helmet-mounted displays. Its range is 2200 km, speed Mac 1.6 and 8,160 kg of weapons. This includes Israeli Spice-Guided Bombs.
More than 200 F-35i Jates attacked more than 100 goals in Iran, including Natanj and Fordo atomic hideouts. Their stealth capacity dodged the radar of Iran, which made accurate attacks on underground Centrifuse Hall and Military Command Centers. The secret capacity of the F-35i gave Israel aerial dominance over Tehran, which could destroy important goals without risk.
GBU-39/B Small Diameter Bomb (SDB)
It is a 250-pound presigent-guided glide bomb, with a range of 110 km. It uses GPS/INS guidance. Up to 3 feet can penetrate renforced concrete. Its small size allows F-16 and F-35 to carry several bombs.
These bombs targeted missile launchers, nuclear research centers and command centers. The upper part of Natanj was completely destroyed. Their accuracy made Iran’s limited air defense useless, destroying the significant structure with low damage.

Jericho-3 ballistic missile
Jericho-3 is a medium-range ballistic missile (IRBM), which has a range of 4800–6500 km and 1000–1300 kg of payload capacity. It can carry traditional or nuclear weapons (an estimated 90 nuclear weapons near Israel). It contains incentive guidance and possibly GPS.
Although its use in the June 2025 attacks is not clear, the range of Jericho-3 can target cities like Tehran, Isfahan and Shiraz. It can attack military bases and nuclear bases with traditional weapons. Its threat forced Iran to spread its defense, as it can attack anywhere with a low warning.
Spike anti-tank missile
Spike missiles include non-line-off-site (NLOS) models, whose range is up to 30 km. They use electro-optical and infrared guidance. Vehicles, helicopters or drones can be launched. Among them, the tendom warhead is to penetrate the armored targets.
They were used in the murder of IRGC Commander Hosain Salute, Chief of Staff Mohammad Bagheri and nine nuclear scientists. Accurate attacks were carried out by launching from drones and ground platforms. These attacks weakened the military leadership of Iran, which disrupted the coordination of retaliation.

Heron TP unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)
Heron TP is a long flight drone, which has a wingspan 26 meters, the maximum height of 45,000 feet and more than 30 hours of flight capacity. It can carry payload up to 1000 kg, such as monitoring equipment and Ankor missiles. Heron TP carried out monitoring and accurate attacks in the Iranian airspace.
They were used to destroy mobile missile launchers and to give real-time intelligence to F-35i. Israel also installed a drone base near Tehran. Its continuity kept pressure on Iran, which disrupted its missile activities.
Weaknesses in Iran’s defense
The weaknesses of Iran’s defense system were exposed in the June 2025 attacks …
Old aerial defense system
Iran is dependent on the systems of the Russian S-300, Swadeshi Bawar-373 and Old Soviet-era. Israel destroyed four S-300 systems including one near Natanj. These systems are unable to stop Israel’s stealth aircraft and small arms such as GBU-39/B. Iran’s short -range missiles pose a limited threat. Israel gained aerial domination over Tehran, which made attacks on the Ministry of Defense and nuclear bases possible.

Weak air force
Iran has 312 old war aircraft (American or Soviet models before 1979) and 57 helicopters. These cannot compete with 345 modern aircraft of Israel, such as F-35 and F-16. Iranian aircraft did not challenge Israeli jets, causing Israeli to control the airspace. Israel attacked Tehran, Isfahan, Shiraz and Tabridge without interruption.
Weak atomic hideouts
Hide like Natanj and Fordo are strong, but not completely safe. The upper part of Natanj was destroyed and the power cuts damaged the centrifuga. Fordo, which is in the mountain, is in danger with the American GBU-57 bombs. The ability to protect Iran’s nuclear structure from accurate attacks is low. Israel’s intelligence targets important parts. The disadvantage of Natanj and Isfahan pushed Iran’s nuclear program back.
Weak missile reserves
Iran has 3000 ballistic missiles, of which 2000 can reach Israel. Israel destroyed one-third of mobile launchers. Israel’s Iron Dome, Davids Sling and Arrow System prevent most missiles and drones. Only a few missiles reached Tel Aviv and Haifa. Iran’s retaliation was limited, causing Israel’s attacks.

Weak command structure
Israel killed IRGC Commander Hosain Salute, Chief of Staff Mohammad Bagheri and nine scientists. Leadership disadvantages weakened Iran’s coordination capacity. Internal political pressure made decision making more difficult. Iran’s retaliation remained unorganized, leading to Israel.
Iran’s retaliation challenges
- Iran launched more than 100 missiles and drones, killing 14 people in Israel. But these attacks were less effective …
- More interception: Israel’s Iron Dome and Arrow system stops most of the projectile from American Patriot and Thaad.
- Weak capacity: Israeli attacks destroyed Iran’s launchers and air defense.
- Proxy weakness: Processes like Hizbullah and Hamas have become weak.
Why attack Tehran and other cities?
The attacks on Tehran, Isfahan, Shiraz and Tabridge took place due to the following reasons …
- Geographical weakness: The large size of Iran makes it difficult to protect all cities. Israel’s long -range missiles and jets can attack anywhere.
- Urban weaknesses: Attacks on urban areas, oil depots (such as Shahran) and government buildings spread panic among the citizens.
- Intelligence loss: Israel’s Mossad-help intelligence information made accurate attacks possible.
