Balarama and Revati Vivah: Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra, which started on 27 June, will end with the ritual of Niladri Vijay on 8 July. One of the many stories alleged in Hindu texts mentions the unique story of Lord Krishna’s elder brother Balaram and his wife Revathi. According to the story, it is a matter of ancient times. In the Satyuga, there was a daughter of a king named Raivat, named Revathi. The king believed that his daughter is very beautiful and knowledgeable. He felt that no man on earth is worthy of his daughter. So once he took his daughter to Brahmalok in search of a worthy groom.
After reaching Brahmaloka, the king told his suffering to Brahmaji, the god of the universe. The king requested Brahma ji to suggest the right bride for his daughter. Hearing such a thing of the king, Brahma ji smiled and said, “O Rajan, don’t worry. You return to the earth. There Shri Krishna’s elder brother Balaram is completely worthy of your daughter.” Hearing this from Brahma ji, the king was very pleased to hear this and returned to the earth after bowing to Brahma ji.
The world had changed when he returned
When King Raivat returned to earth with his daughter, he found that the stature of the people there is very small. The king and his daughter Revathi were surprised to see such a scene. They could not understand how all this happened. Then he talked to the people there and came to know that this Dwaparyuga is going on. In the golden age, the length of the native was similar to 32 feet i.e. 21 hands. In Tretayuga, 21 feet i.e. 14 hands were similar to hand and 11 feet in Dwapar era, ie about 7 hands. Seeing all this, the king became very upset.
Balaram ji told the truth
King Raivat immediately reached Balaram. He told the whole story of Brahmaloka from the earth and asked the solution. Listening to the king, Balaram smiled and said that ‘When you went to Brahmaloka in Satyuga and then returned to Earth, since then 27 cycles of Satyuga, Tretayuga, Dwaparyuga and Kali Yuga have ended. Therefore, the size of people has also changed. The king got upset after listening to Balaram and said that how would my daughter be married to a man of such a short length?
Hearing such words of the king, Balaram ji smiled and took a plow in his hand and pressed Revathi a little and reduced his height. The king was very happy to see this miracle. After this, Revathi’s marriage with Balarama concluded.
