Jain Community Request to Ban Animal Slaughter 9 Days Bombay High Court Says Like This Every Religion May Ask | Ban on cutting animals for 9 days … Court bid on petition

The Bombay High Court questioned the petition filed on behalf of a trust of the Jain community whether the government can stop the slaughter of animals during the nine -day ‘Paryushan Parva’ of the Jain community and will any such order open from other communities to demand similar restrictions during their festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi and Navratri.

Chief Justice Alok Aradh and Justice Sandeep’s bench of death was hearing a petition. The petition challenged the orders passed in 2024 by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Municipal Bodies of Nashik and Pune, which banned animalism for only one day during the Paryushan festival last year.

Jain community requested to stop animal slaughter

The Jain community has requested to ban animal slaughter for 9 days from August 21. The trust stressed various aspects of Jainism, especially non -violence and said that if animal slaughter occurs during the festival of Paryushan, then it will be harmful to the basic principles of Jainism.

On this, the court questioned whether she could pass any such order. The court said, ‘It is not that every other religion started making similar demands yesterday. The Jain community will get a nine -day order for the festival of Paryushan, then another community will come and demand a similar order for festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi and Navratri.

Maharashtra government has already decided the day

The bench was informed that the Maharashtra government has notified 15 days in the first year, when there is a ban on animal slaughter, which includes a day of Paryushan festival. The court asked if she could intervene in any policy decision, as she is not aware of what percentage of people in the total population of the state are vegetarian and how non -vegetarians.

Government takes decision till 18 August

The High Court asked, “Under which statutory obligation should the slaughterhouse be ordered to be closed for nine days?” The bench directed BMC, Nashik, Pune and Meera-Bhayander Municipal Corporations to decide on the report of the trust requesting to ban animal slaughter for nine days and give their decision by August 18. The bench instructed the trust to present its report to these four municipal bodies (BMC, Nashik, Pune and Meera-Bhayandar) for reconsideration.
