External Affairs Minister Jaishankar addressed the new Civil Services Officers in Delhi.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar narrated the story of his UPSC interview on Sunday. He told that the day the Emergency was abolished in the country, he was interviewed on 21 March 1977.
Jaishankar told that he was 22 years old at that time and had interviewed the UPSC office on Shah Jahan Road in Delhi. He was the first candidate in the morning. ‘
Addressing the new civil service officials in Delhi, Jaishankar said that he learned two important things from that interview, first- how to talk under pressure. Second, special people living in ‘bubble’, who live in their own world and do not understand the real situation.

1. Foreign Minister told the atmosphere after Emergency Jaishankar said that the results of elections were coming in the country at that time. There was an atmosphere of Emergency defeat. This coincidence was not only on the date, but a wave of political change had also become part of his interview. People started feeling that public sentiment against emergency is very strong.
In fact, the Emergency was imposed by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in June 1975, which was abolished on 21 March 1977. The Janata Party won the Lok Sabha elections immediately after that and Morarji Desai became the Prime Minister.
2. Jaishankar said- I was lucky Jaishankar said that he was asked questions about that election in the interview. He said, ‘I used to study in JNU. He was a student of political science. So I was fully aware of that atmosphere. I was lucky. I myself took part in campaigning against Emergency.

I forgot in the interview that I am in an interview, and at the same moment my communication skill came out on its own. It was difficult to tell the people associated with government thinking without annoying, but I did it well.
3. Feeling of ‘Lutyens Bubble’ Jaishankar said that some members of the interview board were surprised by the election results. They could not believe that the public took such a decision. But we students were already feeling this wind.
The Foreign Minister said that during the interview, I came to know that many times people sitting on top of the country are cut off from the ground reality.
4. Amrit Kaal for new generation External Affairs Minister Jaishankar described UPPSC as a litmus test and said that this is a test of your character and thinking. Addressing the civil service candidates, he said that all of you are going to one service. The next 25 years of Amrit period is for you. You have to work for the development of the country. You will play an important role in making developing India a developed India.
They said;-
You have to start thinking from today what you can do for the country in the next 20 years. Your thinking and work will be the basis of the future of the country.
