As the investigation on Jalaluddin alias Chhangur Baba arrested from Balrampur in Uttar Pradesh, the face of this alleged mafia of conversion is becoming more frightening. This person, who was caught by UP ATS, was known as a “Pir Baba”, till some time ago, but now he has turned out to be the mastermind of an organized racket of conversion.
The revelations made so far in the investigation of UP ATS and ED are not only shocking, but are giving serious indications about national security. According to police sources, Chhangur Baba had converted conversion into a profitable business. This included funding of crores of rupees, fake NGOs and thick assets from abroad including Pakistan, Türkiye, Arab countries.
Investigation agencies have come to know that Chhangur Baba cleverly raised funds from foreign sources and transferred it to the accounts of his reliable people. The biggest name is Neetu Vohra alias Nasreen and her husband Naveen Vohra. The process of movement of crores of rupees in the accounts of these two was going on for the last several months. Investigation agencies have found strong evidence of this.
According to this, an entry of Rs 13.90 crore was made in 8 bank accounts of Neetu Vohra. There was a transaction of Rs 18 crore in Naveen’s 6 accounts. In just 4 months, about 14 crore rupees came to Nasreen’s account and immediately withdrawn. Chhangur Baba had formed four different fake institutions to give this entire operation ‘legal color’. Funds were called from abroad through them.
Police investigation has revealed that these institutions were also used to create private assets under the guise of conversion activities. Funds were invested in properties like a shopping complex and collection center in Utraula, Balrampur. Not only this, people involved in Chhangur Baba’s network bought land in many districts and expanded their activities there.
It has been revealed in the investigation of Aaj Tak that Chhangur Baba was not alone. A victim has revealed that 30-40 people are active in her network, who are conducting secret campaigns of conversion in districts like Bareilly and Azamgarh. Many doctors, influential people and members of rich families are also said to be included in these. Meanwhile, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken a tough stand.
He said, “Funding is coming from abroad to break the country. Such conspiracies will not be tolerated.” The investigation of UP ATS is now moving at a rapid pace. Details of bank accounts, purchase and sale of properties, registry of fake institutions and sources of money from abroad, everything is being investigated. So far, dozens of suspects have been questioned. The foundations of the empire of Chhangur are shaking.
