The new cycle of the World Test Championship has been started by Jaspreet Bumrah with a big record. He made it to a special list by taking 5 wickets in the first innings of the first Test against England.
Jasprit Bumrah created history by taking 5 wickets against England
New Delhi. Indian team star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah on Sunday (June 22) created a new record by taking 5 wickets in the first innings of the first Test against England. He parked the record of former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and registered a name in the list of the highest five wicket bowlers in the World Test Championship. Ashwin played 41 WTC matches for India and took five wickets 11 times while Bumrah showed the wicket to take five wickets 11 times in 36 WTC matches. Bumrah has surpassed Ashwin in terms of the match.

In the ICC rankings, the world’s number 1 Test bowler Bumrah opened his wicket account by dismissing Jack Croly on Saturday. The England opener was caught by Karun Nair in the first slip, when he scored four runs in six balls. Bumrah took his second wicket by spreading the gills of Ben Docket (62) and then took the important wicket of Joe Root (28). Root was also caught by Karun in the first slip.

In the first session of the third day of the first Test, Bumrah did not get any wicket, but in the second session, he completed five wickets in consecutive overs by dismissing Chris Woakes (38) and Josh Tung (11). With five wickets in the first innings, Bumrah took his Test wickets to 150 in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia) countries. He is the first Asian bowler to dismiss at least 150 batsmen in SENA countries.
