Former selector Jatin Paranjpe is confident Jaspreet Bumrah will play both Tests next
Making a brilliant comeback at Edgbaston in the second match, the visiting team had equalized the 5-match series 1-1. However, the Lord’s missed a 2–1 lead in Lord’s and now every match is in a position or dying position for India. Former selector Paranjpe believes that this young team cannot be dismissed. Talking to PTI, Paranjpe said that the team has already moved beyond veterans like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma and the young Brigade is capable of returning to Manchester.
Referring to the close defeat in Lord’s, he said, “I think we are actually a little unfortunate to not be 3–0. He was the run-out of Rishabh Pant at the worst time. If he and Rahul had 60-70 runs and pairs, the game could bow to our favor.”
The availability of Jasprit Bumrah for the fourth Test is not clear, as he is expected to play only three Tests in this series. But Paranjpe is confident that he will come back. “He will play the next two Tests – I have no doubt about it.”
