The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, has remained just one step away from the enactment of the law after being passed by both houses of the Parliament. Now it will be sent to the President for approval. After his approved, the Government of India will issue a gazette notification and the Waqf Bill will become a law. Two NDA allies- Janata Dal United (JDU) and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) contributed significantly in passing this bill from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Both parties supported the Waqf Bill in the upper and lower houses of Parliament. However, JDU Muslim leaders are angry with the party to support the Waqf Bill.
Mohammad Qasim Ansari, Mohammad Shahnawaz Malik, Nadeem Akhtar, Tabrej Siddiqui Alig and Raju Nayar have announced their resignation from the party in different letters written to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. These leaders said that Nitish Kumar has lost the trust of Muslims by supporting the Waqf Bill, who believed that JDU led by him is a secular party. However, Nitish Kumar has got full support of another Muslim face of JDU, Jama Khan. At the same time, JDU Executive President Sanjay Jha says that the two Muslim leaders who have announced to resign from JDU in protest against the Waqf Bill do not know themselves.

Whatever work has been done in his favor, it has been done under the leadership of Nitish Kumar in the NDA alliance.
