JPC Meeting Waqf Amendment Bill Kashmir Muslim Religious Leader Mirwaiz Present Committee

Jpc meeting waqf bill: The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) will have an important meeting on the Waqf Amendment Bill today. In the JPC meeting, the committee will appear before the committee’s religious head Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today and will tell his objections about this bill brought by the government.

The Joint Committee constituted on the Waqf Amendment Bill chaired by BJP MP Jagdambika Pal postponed the program of discussion on section-by-section of the draft law after the objections expressed by the opposition leaders. The committee will now consider the bill in detail on Monday. Apart from Muslim religious leader Mirwaiz, the committee will also listen to the views of the ‘Lawyers for Justice’ group on Friday.

Who included in JPC?

JPC consists of 21 MPs from Lok Sabha and 10 Rajya Sabha MPs. Its president is being presented by UP BJP MP Jagdambika Pal. Out of these 31 BJP, 4 of Congress, two of TMC-DMK, Shiv Sena (UBT), Shiv Sena (Shinde), NCP (Sharad Pawar), JDU, LJP-R, TDP, YSRCP, AAP and AIMIM- One MP is involved.

Why is there a dispute over Waqf Bill?

According to the new Waqf Bill, apart from the tribunal claiming the land, the Revenue Court will be able to appeal in the Civil Court or High Court and the verdict of the Waqf Tribunal can be appealed in the High Court. Until anyone has given land to Waqf. Even though a mosque is built on it, it will not be the property of Waqf. According to the new bill of the government, now two women and two other members of other religions will also get entry in the Waqf Board.
