Opposition of Bar Association and government’s decision
Justice Verma was notified by the central government on March 28 on the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium transferred from Delhi to Allahabad High Court. However, the Allahabad Bar Association started an indefinite strike opposing this decision. Which has been stopped at the moment after the assurance of CJI Sanjeev Khanna. The Bar Association says that they will not accept any judge facing allegations of corruption.
Supreme Court told the demand for FIR haste
Last week, the Supreme Court dismissed the petition seeking an FIR against Justice Verma as “prematurely”. The apex court said that a three -member panel is investigating the case and a decision will be taken to register an FIR after the investigation is completed. The petitioners claimed that no arrest or seizure was made after the scam surfaced on 20 March.

Let us know that on 14 March 2025, a fire broke out on the outskirts of Justice Yashwant Verma’s residence in Delhi. At that time Justice Verma was not in the city. When the fire brigade staff and police reached the spot, they found a part of a partial burnt cash in the storeroom. The incident created a stir in the legal circles, after which the CJI formed a three -member committee to conduct a detailed investigation into the incident. Justice Verma dismissed the allegations and claimed that he was being maligned.
