It is said that there was a state of serpents named Pundarik. This state was very glorious and prosperous. Apsaras, Gandharva and Kinnar used to live in this state. There was also a supernatural Apasara named Lalita. Her husband Lalit also lived there. Lalit Nag used to sing in the court and entertains everyone by showing his dance. They had a lot of love among themselves. Raja Pundarik once ordered Lalit to sing and dance. Lalit began to remember his wife Lalita while dancing and singing the song, which made her dance and songs forgotten. A Nag Devta named Karkotak was present in the meeting, who told the Nag Raja named Pundarik about Lalit’s mistake. With this, King Pundarik got angry and cursed Lalit to become a demon.
After this, Lalit became an Ayant -looking demon. His nymph wife Lalita was very sad. Lalita started looking for solutions for the liberation of her husband. Then a sage advised Lalita to observe Kamada Ekadashi fast. Lalita observed Ekadashi fast in the muni’s ashram and gave the virtuous benefit of this fast to her husband. Due to the power of fasting, Lalit got liberation from his demon form and he again became a beautiful singer Gandharva.
