Kapil sibal on election commission: Rajya Sabha member Kapil Sibal criticized the Election Commission as ‘inactive’ and ‘failed’ institution. He says that the Election Commission has not fulfilled its constitutional responsibilities properly, due to which a large part of the country did not trust it. According to Sibal, the sooner the issue of mistrust on the Commission is resolved, the greater the possibility of protecting democracy.
Sibal said in an interview, ‘The Election Commission has not discharged its responsibilities under the Constitution’. In the context of allegations of irregularities in the voter list by the Congress and Trinamool Congress, he said that the Election Commission has become ‘inactive’. Sibal further said that the Election Commission has become a ‘failed institution’ at this time and the people of the country have lost their confidence in it.
Improvement in Election Commission is necessary to protect democracy
Sibal also said that without the reform of the Election Commission, the security of democracy may be in danger. They believe that if the questions arising on the Election Commission are not solved in time, then the stability of democracy can suffer serious loss. Sibal emphasized the need to resolve this issue immediately and said that the sooner it will be resolved, the more defense of democracy will be ensured.
Sibal raised serious questions on the election process
Congress and other parties of ‘India’ alliance have alleged disturbances in the voting process. Sibal said that opposition parties will have to pay attention to other serious issues other than EVMs which indicate disturbances in the electoral process. He says that this is the time when all opposition parties together find a solution to this issue and take steps to improve the election process.
