At Karnataka Central University, Kalburgi, an assistant professor has been accused of pressurizing the girl students to wear hijab during the field trip. The students have complained that the professor asked all the girls to wear hijab during the trip.
Visit done only at places associated with Muslim community
The alleged accused Abdul Majeed, who teaches in the Department of History and Archeology. He took the students on educational tour in Kalburgi and Bidar districts. The students claim that the field visits were mainly limited to sites associated with the Muslim community and the professor insisted on wearing hijab during the journey.
Complaint filed against professor
The Legal Rights Protection Forum has filed a formal complaint, which has also submitted a memorandum to the Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Battu Satyanarayana, demanding action against the professor. It is alleged that women students were forced to wear hijab to enter the mosque, which led to allegations of religious pressure.
