In Karnataka, Siddaramaiah was sworn in as Chief Minister on 20 May 2023 and DK Shivkumar was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Wednesday that he will continue in the post of CM for the entire five years. When the media in Chikballapur asked him if he would remain CM for five years, the veteran leader said, “Yes, I will stay. Why do you doubt it?”

On the claim of BJP and JD (S) that CM will be replaced, Siddaramaiah retaliated and said- are they our high commands. He asked, “R Ashok, BY Vijayendra, Chalwadi Narayanaswamy are BJP men. If they say such things, will you write. You should confirm it or not.”

Here, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar said that he has no objection and will support Siddaramaiah. Will support them. DK indicated that he had no choice but to support Siddaramaiah.

Notices will be given to those who make statements to change CM

Even before this, Shivkumar said that there is no dissatisfaction in the ruling Congress and when Siddaramaiah is the Chief Minister, there is no need for any dispute on the issue of leadership. Party discipline is important, I have not asked anyone to make myself Chief Minister. Sivakuman also warned that notices will be issued to leaders making public statements on the issue of changing CM.

Shivkumar was the contender for the post of CM after the assembly elections

After the results of the assembly elections were declared in May 2023, there was a tough competition between Siddaramaiah and Shivkumar for the post of Chief Minister, and the Congress later succeeded in convincing him and made him Deputy Chief Minister.

At that time some reports claimed that the agreement was reached on the basis of the rotational Chief Minister formula, according to which Shivkumar would become CM after two and a half years, but the party did not officially confirm this.
