A communal tension arose over the death of a nurse in Karnataka when his murder was confirmed in the post -mortem. A person has been arrested in this case. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Basavraj Bommai, terming it a case of ‘love jihad’, alleged that such incidents have increased since the Congress government came to power.
22 -year -old Swati Byadgi was found dead near Tungabhadra River in Fatehpur village. She was a native of Masuru village of Rattihalli taluk in Haweri district and worked in Ranebenur. Swati went missing on March 3 and later found her body. His family identified the body. After confirming the murder in the postmortem, the police intensified the investigation and arrested Nayaz in the case.
A senior police officer told ‘PTI-Bhasha’, ‘Swati and Nayaz had a relationship and promised to marry Swati. However, after his marriage to another woman from his community, he started distance from Swati.
He said that when Swati threatened her that if she left her, she would expose her, Nayaz allegedly conspired to kill her. A senior police officer said, ‘There are two more accused in the case- Durgachari and Vinayak. He took Swati to the Tungabhadra River with the excuse and helped Nayaz in killing her.
Durgachari and Vinayak are absconding since the murder. BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai, in a statement, condemned Swati’s murder, alleging that the ‘Love Jihad’ network is active in the state and such incidents are increasing due to lack of fear among criminals.
He said that such incidents can be stopped only by punishing the culprits. Basavaraj Bommai urged the state government to give proper compensation to Swati’s family and ensure justice. Bommai alleged that since the Congress came to power in Karnataka, women are not safe.
