Vidarbha has become the new champion of Ranji Trophy. He made a big score in the final as usual, in response to which Kerala has no option but to offer a draw. Vidarbha got the trophy in his name as soon as the final draw. He won the title based on the first innings lead. Vidarbha has become the Ranji Champion for the third time. He had earlier won this title in 2019.

The final of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 was played between Vidarbha and Kerala in Nagpur. In this five -day match, Vidarbha scored 379 runs while batting first. In response, Kerala’s team could score 342 runs in their first innings. In this way Vidarbha got a lead of 37 runs in the first innings, which proved to be decisive. Vidarbha then scored 375 runs for 9 wickets in their second innings. Vidarbha’s innings was going on till the second session on the fifth day of the match. It was decided that now the result of the match will not come out. After this, both teams agreed to the draw. According to the rules of Ranji Trophy, the team that takes the lead in the first innings gets the trophy when the match is drawn. Vidarbha became Ranji Champion on this basis. With this, Kerala’s dream of winning the Ranji title for the first time was broken.

Teams agreed to draw only after second session
The eyes of Indian cricket lovers were on the match of Team India and New Zealand on Sunday, March 2. This match of the Champions Trophy was to begin at 2.30 pm in Dubai. Sunday was the last day of the Ranji Trophy final. The result of the match was to come by 5.00 pm but Vidarbha and Kerala agreed to the draw around 2 pm. Vidarbha had earlier won this trophy in 2017-18 and 2018-19.

In this match for Vidarbha, Danish Maleshwar and Karun Nair did excellent batting. Danish scored 153 in the first innings and 73 runs in the second innings. Karun Nair scored 86 in the first innings and 135 runs in the second innings. Danish Maleshwar was adjudged Player of the Match and Harsh Dubey was voted as Player of the Tournament. Harsh Dubey of Vidarbha took the most 69 wickets in the current season of Ranji Trophy. Karun Nair scored the highest 863 runs for Vidarbha. He scored 4 centuries this season.
