The controversy has once again arisen over the arbitrary fees of private schools in Delhi. In the past, the parents filed a complaint outside the Directorate of Education against Delhi Public School (DPS) Dwarka that the school is harassing the children along with increasing the fees. In this case, former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal targeted the Rekha Gupta government of Delhi and said that now the education mafia returned again. Former teacher Manish Sisodia and AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj have also questioned the current government.
Significantly, on Thursday, parents and students demonstrated in front of the Directorate of Education. Parents allege that DPS Dwarka, after increasing the fees, the parents who did not pay the fees, their children were expelled from the class and seated in the library. Many students were not allocated till the section of the new class. An individual expressed displeasure that we enrolled in this school for a better future of children, but now the school management is openly harassing. Our children are being mentally harassed.
At the same time, when a complaint was made against DPS Dwarka in the Directorate of Education, the report of D (Deputy Education Nominee) said that there has been no incident like sitting in the library. This made the parents more angry and he met the Director of Education and demanded a complete investigation. The Director of Education assured that the matter would be investigated fairly and if the school is found guilty then appropriate action will be taken.
AAP targeted BJP government
On this news in the media, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal targeted the BJP government and said that in ten years we did not allow private schools of Delhi to increase the fees. The education mafia was eliminated. The education mafia returned again in a month of his formation. After his tweet, other leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party also jumped into the field.
AAP state president Saurabh Bhardwaj wrote on X that private schools have become unbridled and fees up to 82% are being increased. He alleged that the BJP government is sitting silent on this matter and the education mafia has been given an open exemption.
Senior AAP leader and former Education Minister Manish Sisodia also tweeted that it has not been two months to take power in Delhi and the BJP has given the education mafia open. Thousands of parents are deeply concerned about the future of their children.
He further said that BJP has made private schools unbridled. An open exemption has been given to increase the fees and some schools have increased the limit, increased the fees by 82%. Parents who are unable to pay these increased fees, their children are not being allowed to enter the class. Let us know that in this matter, no evil has been given by BJP leaders.
What are the demands of DPS Dwarka’s parents
1. The sudden increase in fees should be withdrawn.
2. Forensic audit of the financial records of the Directorate of Education School.
3. Students who do not pay fees should not be harassed.
4. There should be a criminal investigation into the incident of 2 April 2025 and a case should be registered under the Juvenile Justice Act.
5. The amount of higher fees charged in the 2023-24 session should be returned to the parents.
