Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started the Ken-Betwa Link Project to provide relief to this area. Under this project, a plan has been made to overcome the water crisis by connecting Mahoba and other districts of Bundelkhand through rivers.

With the completion of Ken-Betwa Link Project, 45 thousand hectares of land in Mahoba district will be irrigated, which will benefit the farmers here. Apart from this, about 5 lakh people will also get pure drinking water who till now were facing water crisis. Under this project, work will be done to fill the Chandela era ponds by sending river water to Mahoba district.

Now the picture of Bundelkhand will change

This project will prove to be a project for Mahoba and districts of Bundelkhand like Banda, Hamirpur, Jhansi and Lalitpur. Due to the absence of a river in Mahoba, the water problem was very serious, but now under the Ken-Betwa project, two channels will be built to deliver water to Mahoba. Through these channels, major ponds of the area will be revived and the irrigation system will be strengthened.

Target to complete the project in 3 years

Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had a dream to link the rivers of the country and this project was flagged off on his birth anniversary. Under this project, a budget of Rs 5735 crore will be spent in Mahoba and a target has been set to complete it in the next three years. This scheme is not only expected to change the fortunes of the farmers, but is also likely to change the picture of the entire Bundelkhand.

People will get relief from water crisis

The main objective of this project is to provide relief from water crisis in Bundelkhand. The process of connecting ponds and dams in other districts including Mahoba will provide water for irrigation and farmers will get the opportunity to grow more than two crops. Apart from this, in the next phase of the project, a plan has been made to connect 11 Chandel period ponds with canals and pipelines, which will bring prosperity to the entire area.
