Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will be in Bahraich on 10 June. CM Yogi will inaugurate the newly constructed Maharaja Suheldev Memorial on the banks of Lake Chittora in Bahraich. In this memorial, built with a log of about Rs 39 crore 49 lakh, a 40 feet tall statue of Maharaja Suheldev has been installed with a spear in his hand and a horse with a bow on his shoulder. The event will also include Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (Subhaspa) chief and Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar in the Yogi cabinet.

Maharaja Suheldev, who was a powerful king of Shravasti, was ruled in Bahraich and the surrounding areas. Maharaj Suheldev, saddened by the robbery in the Somnath temple of Mahmud Ghaznavi, waged a guerrilla war with communities like Banjara and Tharu. The effect of this was that the decades could not muster the courage to go towards the invader Awadh region. Later, Mahmud Ghaznavi’s nephew and commander Syed Salar Masood Ghazi took a huge army from Delhi and traveled towards Awadh. Ghaznavi’s army, which came out of Delhi, won the war of Meerut and moved forward.
