A shocking tradition was going on for years in Kishoreiganj Manmohanpur Primary School, located in Nadanghat area of East Bardhaman district of West Bengal. Here, food was made from different cooks for Hindu and Muslim children. The food of Hindu children makes a cook and another of Muslim children. The utensils, stove and gas were different. The children used to sit on the same bench and study, but at the time of eating food used to be divided on the basis of religion.
The headmaster of the school said that he himself is against this discrimination but he was not able to change this system that has been going on for years alone. After the news came in the media, the matter created a stir across the state. After this, the school administration immediately called a parent meeting.
Food will not be made on the basis of religion
In the meeting, parents, teachers and school management together decided that now food will not be prepared on the basis of religion. The children will be given a mid-day meal made of the same kitchen together. This change was possible with the initiative of the Principal. It is being told that this system has been going on since the year 2000.
This system has been going on for years
Now the example of unity will be seen in this school instead of religious discrimination. This decision will not only give good food to the children but will also teach the lesson of unity and equality. Let me tell you, there are about 72 students in this school. There are 29 Muslims and 43 Hindus. After the matter came to light, the administration has ordered an inquiry.
