The police, investigating the gang rape case with the student at Law College, Kolkata, has made a big disclosure. Police say that after carrying out the incident, the main accused Manjit Mishra along with both his accomplices drank alcohol on the crime scene. On 25 June, the incident was carried out in a security guard room in the college campus.

A police officer said that the three accused Manjit Mishra, Pramit Mukherjee and Jab Ahmed had gone to eat at a dhaba on the EM bypass before returning to their respective homes after the incident. He said, “After committing the crime, the three accused had asked Pinaki Banerjee to remain silent about the incident in the security guard room.”

Police investigation revealed that on June 26, a day after the crime, Manjit Mishra contacted an influential person seeing himself trapped. He had helped him earlier, but in view of the seriousness of the situation, he advised Manjit to retreat. The main accused had sought help from many of his alleged gurus to escape.

The police officer said, “The main accused Manjit Mishra had gone to different parts of the city such as Rashbihari, Deshpriya Park, Gariahat, Fern Road and Balliganj station road in an attempt to meet the influential people. His mobile tower data also revealed that he had met someone near the police station. However, no one could save him.”

Police investigation has also revealed that Manjit Mishra had conspired for this incident with both his friends long ago. His call detail record (CDR) has revealed that there was several conversation between the three in the days before the June 25 incident. After this, the three committed this crime in a planned manner.

Earlier, Manjit Mishra’s lawyer claimed that his client had consensus sex with the victim. He alleged that he was being implicated. There is no video proof of any kind related to this incident. On Wednesday, advocate Raju Ganguly had said in the court that the suspect had not tortured the victim.

He had said, “My client has been implicated. Both of them had sexual relations with consent. There is evidence. However, Sources in the Alipur court said that the defense counsel had not given any such statement before the judge.
