Sukanta Majumdar released from jail

An attempt was made to take out a three -kilometer long march from Gariahat intersection to Law College, but the police stopped it and took 32 activists, including Majumdar, into custody. Majumdar refused to sign for bail, saying, “If I have to arrest again and again for the safety of the daughters of Bengal, I am ready.”

BJP formed team for investigation
The BJP has constituted a four -member inquiry committee from Delhi, which includes Biplab Deb, Meenakshi Lekhi, Manan Mishra and Satyapal Singh. Leader of Opposition Shubhendu Adhikari has made serious allegations against the college administration and education department. 4 arrested so far in law college case
Police arrested a security guard on Saturday (June 28, 2025) in the case of alleged gang -raping a first -year student of a Law College in Kolkata earlier this week. Amid increasing public outrage over this incident, Kolkata Police has formed a special investigation team (SIT) to investigate the case. An official said that on June 25, four accused have been arrested in the crime inside the guard room in the South Calcutta Law College campus.
