There is a round of controversial rhetoric of the ruling Trinamool Congress leaders in the gang rape case with a 24 -year -old student at a law college in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. After TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee and MLA Madan Mitra, now Irrigation and Waterways Minister Manas Ranjan Bhaunia has made controversial remarks on the incident. He while addressing a program on Doctor’s Day at Kolkata Medical College on Tuesday, described the gangrape in ‘South Calcutta Law College’ as a ‘small incident’.
Manas Bhaunia said, ‘The terrorists who killed us in Pahalgam have not yet been caught and they (BJP) always target Bengal. Any minor event happens and there are some people who start crying, as the Holocaust has come … I want to urge all of you, do not less, you are all Mamta Banerjee’s soldiers … Yes there are incidents, even in their own family … The husband killed the wife, the wife has pushed the husband with a rock … These are the problems of the society. Our Chief Minister handles every incident like a mother. I appeal to the boys and girls of my federation to stand with them.
Such leaders are getting strength due to Mamta Banerjee’s silence: BJP
His remarks have been severely criticized by the main opposition party BJP. BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya wrote in a post on X, ‘When the whole country is frightened by the unimaginable cruelty with 24 -year -old law students, TMC leaders are busy normalizing rape to get praise from their political boss Mamata Banerjee. First, Madan Mitra of TMC blamed her fate for the incident with the victim. After this, the current MP Kalyan Banerjee made an absurd remarks, describing the incident as insignificant and said that what can be done if a friend raped his friend? ‘

Amit Malviya further wrote, ‘Now, another face of this corrupt regime, the irrigation minister of the state, Manas Bhaunia, deferred this atrocities as a small incident and urged the party workers to ignore it and move forward. These leaders are getting strength from the silence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on this heinous crime. A young girl has to pay the price of her aspirations. The leaders of TMC’s Student Wing crueled her and also made a video of her. And now Mamata Banerjee’s cabinet minister responds like this? With ridicule, dismissal and complete cruelty? ‘
BJP IT cell head said, ‘This is not just a crime. This is the symptom of the party that has made female-malice institutional. This is Mamta Banerjee’s Bengal- where the dignity of a woman can be ruined as long as the rapist keeps on raising the right political slogan. Minister Manas Ranjan Bhaunia, who is facing criticisms about his statement, presented the clarification. He said that I did not say a single word on the Law College incident. He told media personnel, ‘When did I mention the town (Law College located in this area) in my address?’
My statement is being distracted by distorted: Minister Manas Buniya
Manas Ranjan Bhaunia said in a press conference, ‘I have been deeply shocked that an incident is being distorted in my name. I have no objection. Some people may say that it is a democratic right, constitutional right. But the Constitution has also given me the right to protect my self -respect. If needed, I will also take legal action. I will apologize to the public with folded hands. But I will not do this. I am born to protest. I am born to stand and fight against the oppression of CPM. So I cannot even imagine during this time that all these controversies have been created about me.

He further said, ‘But where did I mention the incident of the town? Does it have any relation with my statement? It is completely misleading, intentionally added to insulting, insulted. I respect the media. The fourth pillar of the constitution is media. Most of my political lives have been spent as an activist of the opposition party. I have always been associated with media and have taken news of them, I have given them news. Now it has increased a lot. Earlier there was not so much electronic media.
The leader of TMC’s student unit is the main accused of gang rape

Two more college students Jab Ahmed and Perm Mukhopadhyay were present on the crime scene along with Monojit at the time of crime, while a security guard Pinaki Banerjee was sitting outside. The police have arrested the four accused. Along with Monojo, an FIR has been lodged in the sections of gang rape on Jab and Pratim. In the complaint given to the police, the victim has alleged that she rejected Monojat’s marriage proposal, so she raped her and also recorded a video in her mobile phone, which she was using to blackmail the victim. After RG Kar Rape and Murder Case, this incident has brought the TMC government of West Bengal under question. Opposition parties are accusing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of ruining law and order in the state.
