Kolkata law college case: The victim has given a written complaint to the police in the gang rape case of first year student at South Calcutta Law College. It said that on June 25, 2025, the victim was forcibly taken to the guard room, where he was allegedly attacked. The victim’s statement has also been confirmed in CCTV footage, in which the footage covering a period of seven hours, allegedly captured the victims, 3 accused persons and college security guards.

Meanwhile, the number of members in the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the case has been increased from 5 to 9, so that the investigation can be expedited. According to the report of the news agency PTI, an official said that CCTV footage confirms the girl’s allegations. In this, the actions of the three accused, security guards and the victim are seen. We are currently investigating the footage. Investigators have also gathered evidence from many places inside the campus, such as the student union room, washroom and guard room.

Forensic investigation of things recovered from the scene
He said that the seized things include hair fibers, unknown fluid bottles and a hockey stick, which are being investigated. The police have seen clear signs of struggle in these places, which confirm the victim’s statement.

The incident allegedly occurred when the victim rejected the marriage proposal of one of the accused, Manojit Mishra, who is an alumnus and contractual employee. Following the complaint, Mishra and current students Pratim Mukherjee and Jab Ahmed were arrested.

Video clip recovered from a suspect’s mobile phone
College security guard Pinaki Banerjee was also detained and was arrested later for not being able to respond properly during interrogation. Officials said that the guard did not intervene and left the scene when the crime came to the fore.

The 1.5 minute video clip related to the incident has been recovered from a suspect’s mobile phone. Forensic experts are investigating whether the video was shared or deleted.
