Kolkata Police wrote in a post on social media platform X, ‘It has come to cognizance that some people are trying to disclose the identity of the victim in the town case by spreading confidential documents or other ways. This is a serious violation of the law. Strict legal action will be taken against any person found in such acts under the relevant provisions. The public is advised not to share any such information so that the identity of the victim can be revealed. Honoring the dignity and privacy of the victims is a legal obligation and moral imperative. ‘

A student of Law College, Kolkata has accused 3 students of gangrape. One of the main accused in this is said to be a member of the student unit of the ruling party TMC of West Bengal. However, Kolkata Police has also arrested 3 accused students and security guards who were on duty in college in this gang rape case. At present, the police remand of Kolkata gangrape case accused Monojo Mishra, Jab Ahmed and Pramit are being completed on Tuesday. All three were sent to police custody till July 1.

Amidst the politics of accusation on this matter, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has questioned the silence of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi.
