Kolkata rape case: The rape case of a college student in Kolkata shook the entire country. The victim is still mentally hurt, and her family is in the hope of justice. In a special conversation with India Today, the victim’s father shared his grief and anger. He clearly said that if the maximum punishment for rape is hanged in the country, then the accused should be given the same punishment. He says that people still with mental deformity are still roaming in the society, and they should see what the judicial system can do. The father has denied the need for the CBI investigation, expressing confidence in the Kolkata Police and their SIT.
Aaj Tak/India Today: Sir, we know what happened to your daughter is very unfortunate. At this time the whole country is with you. First of all, want to know, how is your daughter right now?
Victim’s father: He is very upset and hurt mentally. There is no need to say the rest, because everyone can feel.
Aaj Tak/India Today: Are she feeling a little right now?
Victim’s father: If someone is mentally disturbed then how can they be normal! I do not want to talk about it anymore.
Aaj Tak/India Today: Is she taking counseling?
Victim’s father: We are trying our best on this.
Aaj Tak/India Today: Is the administration or police helping treatment or counseling?
Victim’s father: The Kolkata Police is fully helping us. We trust Kolkata Police.
Aaj Tak/India Today: Are you satisfied with the Kolkata Police investigation?
Victim’s father: Absolutely. The Kolkata Police is working very fast and he arrested the accused quickly. The investigation is actively moving forward.
Aaj Tak/India Today: Do you want a CBI inquiry into this case?
Victim’s father: No, we do not want CBI inquiry at this time. I have full faith in Kolkata Police and his SIT.
Aaj Tak/India Today: Do you think this was a pre -planned attack? Was Manojoja already targeting your daughter?
Victim’s father: It is not possible for me to tell who was targeting whom. If a parent sends their son or daughter to school, college or university, then it is not possible for them to know who is targeting them on the way.
Aaj Tak/India Today: Did your daughter share anything with you? That Manojj used to harass her earlier?
Victim’s father: In this modern era today, our children go to different places for studies, and many incidents happen to them on the way. I will not go into too much expansion on this. The one who has committed this crime should be punished maximum. Those mentally ill people who are still present in the society, they should see what the government and the judicial system can do for them. So I demand maximum punishment.
Aaj Tak/India Today: What kind of punishment do you want to punish the accused? Death sentence?
Victim’s father: I want them to be punished maximum. If the maximum punishment in our country is death sentence, then it should be the same. I am not in a position to speak more on it right now.
Aaj Tak/India Today: Forgive that I am also questioning in this situation, but we want to bring out the truth.
Victim’s father: I also want the truth to be revealed, so that everyone can know what punishment is given to those who do such an act in the society. And this is possible only through law. I do not want to say anything anymore. That is all.
