Judge Indraila Mukherjee found convict Rajiv Ghosh under Section 65 (2), 140 (4), 137 (2), 118 and Section 6 of the Poxo Act. Under the first and last sections of both acts, the convict was sentenced to death as maximum punishment.

Rajiv Ghosh, who committed the crime on November 30 last year, was arrested from his house in Gopiballavpur area of ​​Jhargram district on the morning of 5 December. From there he was trying to escape. The police filed the first charge sheet in this case on 30 December. A few days later, the supplementary charge sheet was filed. Special government prosecutor Bibhas Chatterjee said that the victim is also in the hospital.

He is undergoing treatment at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The hearing process started on 7 January took just 40 days to complete. It was the seventh death sentence heard by the West Bengal courts in the last six months. The sixth death sentence given under the Poxo Act was for sexual harassment on minors. The aggrieved party has expressed satisfaction on this decision.
