A 49 -year -old woman from Garia of Kolkata has been admitted to a private hospital in South Kolkata due to fever for 15 consecutive days. Investigations have revealed that she was infected with Kornavirus HKU-1 virus, which is less serious but still a worrying variant.

The patient is undergoing treatment at RN Tagore Hospital in Kolkata where doctor Arindam Biswas said, ‘Secondary pneumonia was initially detected. He had a high fever for the last 15 days. There is no travel history of the patient. It is not related to Sars-Cov-2, but it is another strain of the corona virus, HKU-1. We have given her a heavy dose of antibiotics and now she is recovering. It is expected that it will be discharged on Tuesday.
