Kurukshetra masked attackers firing: Two masked attackers fired in front of a hotel on National Highway 44, about five kilometers from Shahabad Markanda in Kurukshetra district of Haryana. This incident caused sensation in the area. The police is now investigating the case.
Kurukshetra Superintendent of Police (SP) Nitish Aggarwal told PTI that two attackers reached the hotel at around five in the morning and fired 10 to 15 rounds. They entered the hotel for some time and left a note at the reception counter and then fired several more rounds outside the campus before fleeing. No casualties were reported in the incident.
However, Shahabad Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ram Kumar said that the glass of some cars broke in this incident.
SP Nitish Aggarwal said that eight police teams have been formed to investigate the case and catch the criminals. He told that footage of about 60-70 CCTV cameras is being investigated, which has found some clues. He hoped that the matter would be revealed soon.
In response to a question, Superintendent of Police Nitish Aggarwal said that there is no demand for ransom in the note left by the attackers. Police sources said that a name has been written on the slip and further investigation in this regard is going on.
Asked if the incident is related to the liquor mafia, the SP said, “At the moment it does not seem, but only after thorough investigation the connection will be confirmed.” He said that the motive is not yet clear, ‘We are still working on the matter.’
The SP said that he has talked to a hotel owner, who has not asked anyone to get any threat or ransom call. The incident took place after another incident in Shahabad, where liquor contractor Shantanu was shot dead near Meena Market on the national highway.
On Tuesday, wanted criminal Romil Vohra, who was involved in several murders in Haryana, including Kurukshetra liquor contractor murder and arms cases in Delhi, was shot near Delhi-Haryana border. Opposition parties in Haryana have targeted the BJP government of the state and alleged that the law and order has deteriorated.
Last week, Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini presided over a high-level review meeting to assess the law and order situation in the state and emphasized zero tolerance towards crime and said that maintaining a strong law and order is the top priority of the government.
