Large action has been taken against ragging at Allahabad University located in Prayagraj city of Uttar Pradesh. The university administration has suspended 18 students on charges of ragging and issued a show cause notice to them. This action was taken after receiving a complaint of ragging by Chief Proctor Rakesh Singh.
Following the complaint, the Proctor Office has suspended these students while showing strictness – Abhishek Verma (BA Second Year), Harsh Dubey (BA Second Year), Ayush Kumar (B.Sc Second Year), Dhanraj Singh (BSC first year), Ujjwal Singh (B.A. Second year), Ayush Kumar (BA Second Year), Gagan Soni (B.Sc second year), Shakti Swaroop (BA Second Year), Amresh Kumar (BA Second Year), Amarnath (BA III Year), Shashank Verma (BA Second Year), Ayush Kumar (B.S.C.C.C.C. (BA Second Year), Suryansh Singh (BA third year) and Jai Kishan (BA Second Year).

Suspended students have been given time to file replies by 16 October. On this date, all the students will be given an opportunity to present their side between their parents and identity cards between 3 pm and 4 pm.
Allahabad University Administration says that incidents like ragging will not be tolerated and strict steps will also be taken in future so that safe and positive education environment can be ensured for the students. This action is also a message for other student community that discipline and student security in the university is paramount.
