The Canadian government on Monday included Lawrence Bishnoi -led Bishnoi gang in the list of terrorist organizations. This decision was taken after the demand of Conservative and NDP leaders. Under this step, now giving financial assistance to this gang or working for it will be considered a crime for any Canadian citizen.
The Bishnoi gang operates from India and its head Lawrence Bishnoi is accused of controlling gang activities through mobile phones from jail. The Canadian government said in the press release that the gang is involved in activities like murder, firing, arson and extortion and especially targets people of Indian origin, their businesses and cultural personalities.

After the new listing, Canadian law enforcement agencies will get the right to take more strict action against the gang. This includes confiscation of their property, freezing bank accounts and prosecuting their supporters.
Helping Bishnoi gang will now be a crime!
The press release states that it would now be a crime if a Canadian citizen helps or indirectly helps the gang or transactions to his property, he will fall under the category of crime.
Last year, RCMP claimed that India is using the Bishnoi gang to get murdered and extortion in Canada, especially to target those who support Khalistan’s demand.

The Canadian government said that this step will not only curb the crime but will also feel security to the migrant Indian community. Public Safety Minister Gary Anandsangari said in a statement that “violence and terror have no place in Canada.
