A Himalayan Ibex, who was injured by a bullet in a remote area connecting Leh and Kargil districts in Union Territory Ladakh, was saved. Police said on Wednesday that four poachers have been arrested in this case.

Giving information, a police officer of Leh said that the campaign was jointly run by the Wildlife Department and the police on 28 March. Himalayan Ibex is the largest wild goat in India.

Khalatse Station House Officer (SHO) Jamyang Namgiyal told PTI that hunters shot Himalayan Ibex near Tsibsangachan in Kanji village, about 140 km from Leh city on March 28.

According to SHO, both the next parts of the wild goat were found to be broken. But he was successfully saved. He said that four hunters have also been arrested during the campaign and the weapon used in crime has also been recovered.

Inspector Jamyang Namgiyal said that the injured animal has been taken to Leh and is undergoing treatment there. Namgiyal said that a case has been registered against the arrested accused under the relevant sections of the Wildlife Protection Act.

According to SHO Jamyang Namgiyal, in addition to the 315 bore gun, a chopping board, fur, several knives and some dry meat have been seized from the capture of the arrested accused, sent for forensic examination.
