Wangchuk was arrested on 26 September under NSA for inciting Leh violence on 24 September.

Sonam Wangchuk has demanded an independent judicial inquiry into the death of 4 people during the protest at Leh on 24 September. He has written a letter from Jodhpur Central Jail, which was made public on Sunday. Wangchuk wrote-

Those who lost their lives are my deep condolences to their families. I pray for the injured and arrested people. The death of 4 people should be investigated by an independent judicial commission, until it happens, I will remain in jail.

This letter has been shared by Advocate Mustafa Haji, who is the legal advisor to the Leh Apex Body. He and Wangchuk’s brother brother Tsetan Dorje Le met Wangchuk in jail on 4 October.

In fact, Wangchuk was arrested on 26 September under the National Security Act (NSA) on 24 September for inciting Leh violence. She is currently in Jodhpur jail. The heabus carpus (habeas corpus) petition imposed on demand for Wangchuk’s release will be heard on 6 October.

Wangchuk supports KDA

Wangchuk said that he is physically and mentally healthy and thank all the well -wishers. He spoke of giving full support to the Lab and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) in the letter.

He wrote- Our demand to include Ladakh in state status and the sixth schedule of the Constitution is constitutional and justified. I am fully with him, whatever step will take in the interest of Ladakh.

Hearing on Wangchuk’s custody on 6 October

The petition filed in the Supreme Court demanding the release of Sonam Wangchuk will be heard on 6 October. The bench of Justice Arvind Kumar and Justice NV Anjaria will hear the case.

Sonam Wangchuk’s wife Geetanjali J Angamo moved the Supreme Court on 2 October. Gitanjali filed a hebius carpus (habeas corpus) petition in the Supreme Court under Article 32. She claimed that her husband’s arrest was illegal.

What is Hai Bibius Carpus …

Hebius carpus is a Latin language word, it means bringing the body to the fore. That is, if a person is illegally arrested, kept in custody, the court can order that person to be produced before the court immediately.

Every citizen has got this right under Articles 32 and 226 of the Indian Constitution. Any person, his family/friend can file a Hebius Corpus writ in the High Court and the Supreme Court. After the order, the police have to keep the complete information before the court.

Wangchuk was arrested from Ladakh on 26 September and brought to Jodhpur Jail in Rajasthan.

Gitanjali’s charge- She is being followed

Angamo told ANI, “I am being followed everywhere in Delhi. A car chases me wherever I go. An employee working with us is detained. He is being beaten and mentally and physically tortured.”

Angmo, who has written a letter to PM, President and Home Minister

Angamo wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Draupadi Murmu, Home Minister Amit Shah, Ladakh Ladakh Ladakh Ladakh Governor Kavinder Gupta, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and Leh District Collector. The copy of which he shared on X.

Angamo alleges that Witch Hunt has been started from last month to calm Wangchuk. Angamo had said that Wangchuk can never be a threat to anyone, leave the point of his nation.
