Yes, one such surprising incident happened in Kanpur, when a lehenga flying straight into the overhead electric wire (OHE) and due to this the train had to stop.

Vande Bharat Express (22436) from New Delhi to Varanasi reached Kanpur Central Station at 10:30 pm. After some time the train left for Prayagraj and reached Shanti Nagar crossing about a kilometer ahead of the station, then the driver of the train noticed that there was a cloth stuck in the wires of the OHE line and smoke was rising from there. Seeing the situation, the driver immediately stopped the train and informed the control room.

Station superintendent reached the spot

As soon as the control room got information, the station superintendent of Kanpur Central Awadhesh Trivedi immediately reached the spot with his team. The railway electric staff noticed that there was a lehenga stuck in the OHE wires, which was probably flying from the roof of a house and hanging there. There are many tall buildings around Shanti Nagar crossing and people living there often put clothes out to dry out. It is being speculated that due to the strong wind, the lehenga flew and stuck directly into the OHE line of the train, causing the train to stop.

How to remove lehenga

Electric staff of the railway immediately took out the lehenga from the OHE line and then examined the condition of the wire. After this process, which lasted for about 20 minutes, when it was fully ensured that there is no other obstacle, then the train was sent further. Ashutosh Singh, CTF of Kanpur Central, said that, we had received information that a cloth was stuck in the line and smoke is rising. Our team immediately reached the spot and removed it. This cloth was flying in the wires due to the wind, which after removing the train was dispatched.
