Lok Sabha on President Rule in Manipur: The Lok Sabha passed the statutory resolution confirming President’s rule in Manipur late on Wednesday (April 2). President’s rule was implemented on 13 February in Manipur, suffering from violence. According to a decision of the Supreme Court, a statutory resolution was presented in the Lok Sabha to confirm the President’s rule within two months.

Home Minister Amit Shah said in the House that Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh had resigned, after which the governor discussed with the MLAs and the majority members said that they are not in a position to form the government. Shah said that after this the cabinet recommended President’s rule, which was accepted by President Draupadi Murmu.
Statutory resolution brought according to Supreme Court’s decision
He said, “According to the decision of the Supreme Court, I have brought a statutory resolution for the approval of the House in this regard within two months.” Shah further said that the first concern of the government is to establish peace in Manipur and currently there has not been a single death incident in Manipur for the last four months and only two people have been injured in Manipur for the last four months.
Shah appealed to the opposition, do not do politics on the issue of Manipur
He said that the government wants peace, rehabilitation and ointment on people’s wounds in Manipur. Apart from this, Home Minister Amit Shah appealed to the opposition parties in the House not to do politics on the issue of Manipur.
It is noteworthy that the state Chief Minister N.K. on Sunday (9 February) after 21 months of the Manipur violence. Biren Singh resigned from his post. He submitted his resignation to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at the Raj Bhavan of Imphal.
