A two -lane rail overbridge connecting Krishnanagar and Kesarikheda in Lucknow is now hanging in the balance. This overbridge is proposed to be built on crossing number 4 of Lucknow-Kanpur rail section, where thousands of vehicles get stuck at the rail gate every day and the local people have to face a lot of trouble. The project was started on 1 February 2024, which was approved at a cost of Rs 74.48 crore under the Uttar Pradesh State Scheme. But due to the increased cost later, it has now reached about 84 crores.
The construction work of the overbridge had also started to some extent and had reached the walls, but now it has come to a standstill by stuck in a complex and land acquisition legal complications. According to the Uttar Pradesh State Setu Nigam, a pre -constructed building is coming in the prescribed alignment of construction which is registered under the green belt. This building is proposed to demolish, but the Kastakars of the land on which it is built has not agreed to the acquisition.
Now this case is entangled in the process of proper compensation and transparency of land acquisition, rehabilitation and re -establishment Act 2013. It is not possible to pursue the work without the acceptance and compensation process of the land owners.
The delay of this project is directly impacting the population of about five lakhs in the area. Traffic jams have now become a daily trouble for the people of areas like Maharajapuram, Gangakheda, Panditkheda. When two-three trains come together, the railwaymen get into trouble and the common people are forced to cross the gate by putting their lives at risk.
Local people are calling it an incomplete dream, which comes out every day as a hindrance in their lives. Now the question is arising whether the administration and the government will be able to communicate with all the parties in time and find a solution? Or this bridge will remain incomplete like this, and people’s problems will increase every day?
