On the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, the sacrifice market of Lucknow shone this time. Along with faith in the city, this time economic activity also broke the record. Overall, about Rs 450 crore goats were sold. Only two major mandis- Dubugga and Khadra Bridge- were sold more than 40 crore rupees within the last six days. On the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, there was a tremendous economic stir in the sacrifice mandis of Lucknow. According to Maulana Sufiyan Nizami, spokesperson of the Islamic Center of India, about 3 lakh people out of the city’s about 9.5 lakh Muslim population bought a goat for sacrifice. If the average price of a goat is considered to be 15 thousand rupees, then this business of sacrifice reached 450 crore rupees.
Sales of more than 40 crores in only two mandis
The two biggest mandis of the city- Dubgga and Khadra- became the center of this business. In the last six days, sales of more than 40 crore rupees were recorded in both these mandis. This time the choice of people also looked changed. High-brought goats above 50 thousand rupees were also demanded.
Customers got facilities like UPI and home delivery
Many vendors also provided facilities like UPI, QR code and home delivery, which saw a beautiful combination of tradition and technology. Not only business, but also the color of prayer and humanity was seen in this festival.
In the morning, people reached mosques for namaz, then performed the ritual of sacrifice and distributed meat to the needy. The festival was celebrated peacefully in the city with the help of drone cameras and with the help of volunteers. This confluence of faith and prosperity made Lucknow once again special.
