The Congress on Friday evening declared former Punjab Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu as party candidate for the Ludhiana (West) Assembly by -election.
The 54 -year -old Ashu, the executive president of Punjab Congress, is a major Hindu face of the party and has represented the Ludhiana (West) seat earlier.
According to the statement issued by the party, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has approved the candidature of Bharat Bhushan Ashu to contest the by -election from this seat.
Please tell that Ludhiana West seat AAP MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi was vacant after his death in January. In which the Congress has announced the name of its party candidate. However, the Election Commission has not yet announced the date of the by -election.
AAP had earlier declared Rajya Sabha member Sanjeev Arora as its candidate for the Ludhiana West Assembly by -election.
