Harshal, the main accused in the scam, is absconding with an SUV car.

A contract employee has committed a scam of Rs 21 crore in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. With this amount, he bought a luxury flat in Airport Road and gifted it to his girlfriend. He bought expensive bikes and cars for himself.

Police said that 23 year old Harshal Kumar is a computer operator at Kshirsagar Sambhajinagar Sports Complex. His salary is 13 thousand rupees. Between July 1 and December 7 this year, he transferred Rs 21 crore 59 lakh 38 thousand to 13 accounts of the department through internet banking. He committed this scam along with fellow employee Yashoda Shetty and her husband BK Jeevan.

Misappropriation of Rs 59 crore from bank account The state government had sent money for the construction of a sports complex in Sambhajinagar. An account was opened in Indian Bank in the name of the sports complex. Transactions in this account were done through checks signed by the Deputy Sports Director.

Accused Harshal, Yashoda Shetty and her husband BK Jeevan prepared fake documents and gave them to the bank and after activating internet banking, transferred the amount to their account. The deputy director came to know about this incident after 6 months. Harshal is absconding, while Yashoda and her husband have been arrested.

After the scam came to light, the assets of the accused were revealed Accused Harshal purchased a BMW car worth Rs 1.20 crore, an SUV worth Rs 1.30 crore and a BMW bike worth Rs 32 lakh. Apart from this, he bought a 4 BHK flat for his girlfriend in an apartment opposite the airport. The accused had also given an order to a renowned jeweler of the city to make diamond spectacles. Her fellow contract worker’s husband has also bought an SUV car worth Rs 35 lakh.
