As soon as singer Devi sang ‘Ishwar-Allah tero naam’, people got angry.
- Singer Devi was invited to perform at the event. During the programme, Devi raised slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Atal Bihari Vajpayee Amar Rahe’. After this he started humming Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram. When Devi sang the line of the bhajan ‘Ishwar-Allah Tero Naam’, about 60-70 youth workers present in the auditorium got angry. After this everyone stood at their places and started chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’.
- On this, singer Devi said- God belongs to all of us and her purpose was only to remember Ram. However, when this had no effect, the organizers intervened. While Shahnabaz Hussain was also present on the stage. There was no point of dispute in this.
I felt that no one felt bad about anything I said. That’s why I also apologized. I didn’t understand that there could be a controversy over this song. There was no pressure to apologise. Raghupati Raghav Rajaram… Gandhiji had made changes in the hymn.
Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram. Purifier Sitaram. Ishwar Allah your name. God bless everyone. ….This was Mahatma Gandhi’s favorite hymn. He used to sing it often.
It is said that this hymn is very old. Gandhiji had modified its original form. It was written by poet and saint Swami Ramdas in the 17th century. There is also a theory that this hymn was written by Shri Lakshmanacharya. It has been taken from his book named ‘Shri Namah Ramanayanam’ which is as follows.
Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram. Purifier Sitaram. Beautiful idol Meghashyam. Ganga Tulsi Shaligram. Bhadragirishwar Sitaram. Bhagat-popular Sitaram. Janakiramana Sitaram. Jai Jai Raghav Sitaram.
