Former President supported India
Maldives’ opposition leader and former President Mohammed Nasheed, while supporting India, has termed this report as straight nonsense. During a conversation with Indian Express, the former President said that I do not think that India will ever be ready to help in changing the regime in Maldives in this way. No such conversation has ever happened with me.
What did the American newspaper claim?,
American newspaper Washington Post, citing a report named Democratic Renewal Initiative, claimed that the opposition of Maldives has proposed to bribe 40 MPs to vote for the impeachment against Mohammed Muizzu in the country. MPs from Mohammad Muizzu’s party are also included in this.
