In Jammu, a video of a garland of shoes to an accused of theft has surfaced on the road. In this video, some police personnel are seen sitting on the bonnet of the police car. The people present there were also seen praising the police on this condition of the accused.

According to media reports, the person seen in the video is accused of looting a patient’s attendant. Which was caught outside a hospital in the city. Later, people tied his hands and put a garland of shoes around the neck and rotated on the streets.

However, condemning the incident, Jammu’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Joginder Singh has ordered a departmental inquiry into the case. Joginder said that the action of police personnel was non-professional and unfair.

Police claim- accused notorious thief

The SHO of Bakshi Nagar Police Station, under which the incident took place, said that the accused is a notorious criminal and part of a recently caught gang. He said that the accused was drunk and was caught after scuffle and prolonged chase.

Police said that a few days ago, a person who was a victim of robbery of Rs 40,000 while buying medicines for his patient, identified and confronted the accused outside a hospital in the middle of the city. The accused attacked with a knife and injured the person and tried to escape.

He said that the police personnel patrolling the area chased the accused and caught him. After being caught, the accused’s hands were tied and some locals who chased him garlanded him with shoes.

Such another incident in a month

This was a second incident in a month in Jammu city, when such a crime accused was publicly treated. Earlier on June 11, police personnel beaten him publicly after three accused were caught in a firing incident at Gangyal Chowk on the outskirts of Jammu.
